PROGRESSING AFTER PTLLS

PTLLS means Preparing to Teach – so what comes next?

Hertfordshire Training & Development Consortium, thanks to support from Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care Services, is offering an advice service to tutors working in Hertfordshire adult social care organisations and their employers.

The advice is provided by Suzanne Crouch, consultant to the East of England Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (EECETT). Suzanne has specialised in the provision of guidance to the voluntary sector on the 2007 Teaching Regulations.

We ran information sessions in March - these were well received by those who attended and covered:

Professional Qualifications - An opportunity to explore the qualifications that lead on from PTTLS - CTTLS (Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) and DTTLS (Diploma). Which is right for your role and the work that you do?

The Institute for Learning - The Institute for Learning (IFL) is the professional body for teachers, tutors, trainers and assessors across the Learning and Skills sector.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) - All members of the Institute for Learning are committed to recording and submitting a record of their continuing professional development (CPD) each year. There will be a demonstration of REfLECT, an on-line personalised learning space for recording CPD.

Professional Formation - Advice and guidance on Professional Formation including: an overview of the government regulations; the professional requirements for attaining Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status and the procedures for application using REfLECT.

In addition to these information sessions, eligible organisations/tutors are entitled to 1:1 advice from Suzanne in order to answer your specific questions on these topics. To access the 1:1 advice offered, please contact tracy.crowley@hertscf.org.uk .

Please provide details of your PTLLS course (provider and dates) when you book. The service is open to those still taking a course or awaiting results.

Please also confirm that your organisation is involved in the delivery of adult social care or in providing training for adult social care organisations in Hertfordshire.

If you are interested in progressing to a Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) or Diploma (DTLLS) qualifications please let us know so that we can keep funders informed about the demand for these courses in Hertfordshire.
